Visakhapatnam: Rights activist, State awardee (RTI Act) and Member of District Supervisory Committee on Implementation of RTI Act Kandregula Venkata Ramana was invited by the Central Information Commission to attend the anniversary celebrations to be held in New Delhi on November 7 and 8 to mark the completion of 11 years of the RTI Act in existence.

Kandregula has been working on the implementation of the Act for the past 11 years by holding public awareness meetings, distribution of RTI applications and propagation of the benefits.

He received State-level award by the then Central Information Commissioner Sailesh Gandhi on December 13, 2008 and presently, he is the coordinator of Public Forum of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and president of District Consumers’ Associations Federation. He told The Hans India here on Thursday that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Jithendra Singh from the PMO, other Union Ministers, RTI Commissioners from various States and activists will participate in the celebrations.

Detailed discussions will be held with regard to the RTI victory, e-Court, RTI web portal, implementation of the Act in PSUs, banking and insurance sectors in the two-day fete, he added.
