Spurious chilli powder worth `2.8 cr seized

Guntur: The officials of the Vigilance and Enforcement raided Uday Cold Storage unit at Etukur and seized spurious chilli powder stock worth Rs 2.08 crore. They also seized Rs 40 lakh worth spurious chilli powder stored in the name of Lakshmi Ganapathi Industries. It is learnt that Rs 8 lakh worth colours were used to make spurious chilli powder.
According to Vigilance Superintendent of Police Sobha Manjari, seven persons purchased chilli waste from Khammam district. They mixed colours in the waste and were selling in the market to make a fast buck. The vigilance officials have already received complaints about spurious chilli powder sales in the city. The vigilance officials booked cases against Lakshmi Ganapathi Industries and took up investigation.
