Vijayawada: The four-lane road formation works, which are going on at a brisk pace from Jakkampudi on the outskirts of Vijayawada to Gollanapalli near Gannavaram, will ease the traffic problem to some extent in the city.

The Polavaram project four-lane road works from Jakkampudi to Gollanapalli were started at a cost of Rs 180 crore. After laying of PRMC four-lane road, heavy traffic between Hyderabad and Vizag will be diverted into four-lane road. Consequently, traffic will come down to some extent in the city.

Vehicles coming from Hyderabad will be diverted to Inner Ring Road at Gollapudi Y junction near Vijayawada and the vehicles will reach fly-over near Milk project and pass towards Jakkampudi village to enter the newly built four-lane road.

Four- lane road adjacent to Polavaram canal from Jakkampudi to Gollanapalli is very crucial as far as the vehicles passing from Hyderabad to Vizag via Vijayawada.

On the other hand, traffic in the city increased drastically since it was declared as the capital of AP. Movement of vehicles increased due to VVIP, VIP, Ministers and other important persons’ visits to the city. The city traffic police couldn’t able to control the traffic due to lack of sufficient force.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has suggested to the Polavaram project supervising officials to speed up the four-lane road construction works to ease traffic in the city.

The Chief Minister directed them to complete the road from Jakkampudi to Gollanapalli before the Krishna Pushkaralu. But, it was not materialised due to technical reasons. As per government directive, the road laying works will be completed in a year, said Polavaram Right Main Canal superintending engineer Srinivas Yadav.

He told The Hans India the works were on the fast track. Rock metal works have already completed and the department is ready to lay black top very soon, he added.

The PRMC four-lane road would resolve the traffic problem in the city, he said.

The citizens of Vijayawada, Jakkampudi, P Nainavaram, Ambapuram, Pathapadu and Nunna people can easily go to Gannavaram and Agiripalli without traffic problem, he said.
