Visakhapatnam: Family members of a TDP worker staged a dharna in Narsipatnam, the home town of Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu,
demanding the arrest of people, who were responsible for the death of Lagudu Srinivas (28). He succumbed to injuries, which he
sustained in a group clash on October 30, on Diwali day, with fellow TDP workers.

Srinivas was beaten up by his opponents, who also belong to TDP, in a group clash who used stones and bamboo sticks causing serious
injuries. He was immediately rushed to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam where he died on Saturday morning. His body, after post
-mortem, was taken to Narsipatnam where he was cremated in the afternoon.

Enraged with his death, the family members and friends of Srinivas staged a dharna in front of police demanding arrest of the main
accused, including G Srinivas, a close follower of local YSRCP leader Uma Shankar.

But, most of the accused belong to the Telugu Desam Party except G Srinivas, who was also not present on the day of the incident, the
local sources said. The family members were upset because the local police refused to register a complaint on the day of the incident.

The police said the complaint was registered on the following day since the staff were busy in monitoring Diwali celebrations. They have
taken five persons into custody and questioning them.
