He was speaking after inaugurating a Kapu and Balija marriage hall in the town on Sunday along with his Cabinet colleague Manikyala Rao. The DyCM appealed to the Kapus not to resort to agitational methods as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is ready to include the Kapus, the Balijas and seven other sub-castes in the list of the BCs.

The Manjunatha Commission was appointed to explore ways and means to include the Kapus and others in the list. Quotas for the Kapus would be implemented in such a way that it would pose no legal problem, he added. Endowments Minister Manikyala Rao exhorted the Balija community people to grow economically and enter politics.

Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhara Reddy said that the credit of establishing an exclusive finance corporation for the Balijas goes to the Chief Minister. Later, the MLA donated Rs 1 lakh to Goddess Chowdeswari temple owing his electoral success. In an indirect reference to YS Jagan and Mudragada Padmanabham, they said that some forces were stalling the growth of the Kapus and Balijas. Several speakers demand reserving at least two Assembly seats in Kurnool district for the Kapus in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
