Chess GM Lalith Babu shares first place in Bavarian Open

Chess Grand Master and Olympiad bronze medalist MR Lalit Babu got tied for first place shared with other six players, after a thrilling win in the final round at a Bavarian Chess Open tournament. The tournament concluded on Sunday at Bad Wiessee, Germany.

A total of 500 players with two dozen Grand Masters participated in the 9-round Swiss tournament. Lalith Babu scored 7.5 points out of 9, he was unbeatable throughout the tournament.
According to Padma Kumari, mother of the chess Grand Master, Lalith won over six players and three matches were draw. She said that the Bavarian Chess tourney would turn point to Lalith Babu. The Grand Master Lalith had 2586 Elo-rating and very soon he would enter in 2600 Super Grandmaster group, she added.
