A total of 500 players with two dozen Grand Masters participated in the 9-round Swiss tournament. Lalith Babu scored 7.5 points out of 9, he was unbeatable throughout the tournament.

According to Padma Kumari, mother of the chess Grand Master, Lalith won over six players and three matches were draw. She said that the Bavarian Chess tourney would turn point to Lalith Babu. The Grand Master Lalith had 2586 Elo-rating and very soon he would enter in 2600 Super Grandmaster group, she added.
