​Eluru: Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Minister Chintakayala Ayyanapatrudu said that the Government was giving maximum priority to housing in West Godavari district and assured that 18,000 houses would be constructed by December this year under NTR housing scheme.

He added that following the completion of these houses, he would try to get additional houses sanctioned for the district. He met district Collector K Bhaskar at the Zilla Parishad Guest House on Thursday and reviewed the developmental works in the district.

The Minister said that 1250 houses had been sanctioned to each constituency in the district under NTR Housing scheme and directed officials to complete the construction of those houses by December.

He said that following the completion of those houses, he would discuss with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the feasibility of allotting another 10,000 houses to the district and a further 20,000 houses in April next year.

He said that although there was a scarcity of land in the district, the government would definitely construct houses for the poor. During his discussion with the collector, he enquired about the impact of the scrapping of Rs500 and Rs.1,000 on the district.
