SP holds meeting with bankers

​Tirupati: Urban SP R Jayalakshmi held a meeting on Wednesday with the officials of the local banks on the measures to be taken for the people to have a smooth exchange of their old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in the banks which will commence from Thursday.

The SP urged the locals to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the pilgrims coming to the banks for exchange of notes and wanted them avoid crowding the banks as the time limit for the exchange of notes is up to December 31 during which they can exchange their notes.

The SP also sought the people to report to the police on WhatsApp number 8099999977, in case, if they have any problem in the exchange of notes and also if the personnel in RTC, railway station, airport, hospital, medical store etc. refuse to accept the old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.

As the banks will also function on Saturday and Sunday which are holidays, the people can visit the banks for the exchange of old notes, she said assuring the banks all necessary help from the police for the smooth functioning of exchange of notes.
