Demonetisation effect: Registrations fall in Guntur dist

Guntur: Property registrations have come down in Guntur district by more than 70 per cent due to ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. In Guntur sub-registrar's office, the officials will register on an average 180 to 200 registrations every day, but for the past two days the number of registrations fell to twenty. Those who have already paid registration fee are registering their properties.

While some others, who have already paid registration fee,, too are facing problems for registrations. The problem is likely to continue for some more days. Due to crisis in the real estate, revenue of the registrations department has already fallen by more than 25 per cent.

Guntur sub-registrar T.Ashok said: “Property registrations fell by 70 per cent during the last two days. I am assuming that same situation would continue some more days.” Document writer Potturi Bhairavakumar said: "Document writers have no work during the last two days. Stamps sales, property purchase agreements have also come down. Those who decided to purchase a house or property are unable to give advance and enter into an agreement to purchase property. So, document writers, computers operators who compose documents have no work.”
