In Eluru, people queued up at Main Post Office, State Bank of India main branch and SBI Bazaar Branch.  Other banks like SBH, Canara Bank, IOB, Karur Vysya Bank, Central Bank of India, Bank of India etc too witnessed heavy crowds. Most of the Banks gave away Rs10 and Rs20 denomination notes to the customers in exchange. 

Eluru: Hundreds of people thronged various banks and post offices for exchanging the demonetised banknotes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination, at various parts of the district on Thursday.

In Eluru, people queued up at Main Post Office, State Bank of India main branch and SBI Bazaar Branch. Other banks like SBH, Canara Bank, IOB, Karur Vysya Bank, Central Bank of India, Bank of India etc too witnessed heavy crowds. Most of the Banks gave away Rs10 and Rs20 denomination notes to the customers in exchange.

Police protection was provided at the main branch of SBI as it is the key bank for all transactions. No untoward incidents were reported from any part of the district.

In Bhimavaram, Narasapuram, Palacole, Tanuku, Nidadavole, Kovvuru, and Jangareddigudem also, it was the same scenario. Meanwhile, despite clear-cut instructions from the Central government, some petrol bunks continued to refuse the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes from customers.
