Vijayawada: All Minorities Central and State Government employees Federation of India (AIMEF) will conduct the Minority Day celebrations at the Press Club in Gandhi Nagar at 5 pm on Friday.

The Minority Day is celebrated on November 11 every year to mark the birth anniversary of freedom fighter and first education minister Moulana Abul Kalam Azad. Dr S Abdul Sattar Prof of DR NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada Urban MRO R Siva Rao, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation examiner of Accounts M V Prasad, Dr Gausia Begum, minority welfare officer, Krishna district and others will be the guests of honour on the occasion.

In a press release here on Thursday, AIMEF central president Shaik Abdul Razak and Andhra Pradesh president Abdul Raheem said the Minority Day will be celebrated at the Press Club to mark the 129th birth anniversary celebrations of Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad. They said officials of various government departments and members of AIMEF will attend the event.

District Minority Welfare Department is conducting the Minority Day celebrations at 10 am on Friday at Idgah in Chittinagar. The District Minority Welfare Officer Gausia Begum said on Thursday arrangements have been made for the celebrations and appealed to Muslims to participate in the event.
