Vijayawada: All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) joint secretary Vijoo Krishnan said that AIKS will launch Rythu Sangarsha Jathas from Kolkata, Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari and Jammu Kashmir on November 9, 10 and 11.

The AIKS will take out a massive rally in front of Parliament and submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on farmers’ problems in the country on November 24.

He was addressing the media at CPM party office here on Friday. He said that as many as 460 farmers committed suicide in the Sate this year due to debts and Union and State governments failed to provide 200 working days to the agricultural labourers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

He said that State government was trying to get nearly one lakh agricultural lands from the farmers to construct capital city, Machilipatnam port and other activities under the land pooling system. “Land pooling system would help only the realtors. If State government would get the agricultural lands from farmers by forcefully under the land pooling system, all farmer unions will fight against the State government” he warned. Vijoo Krishnan demanded the State government implement Land Acquisition Act, 2013 in place of land pooling system.

AIKS vice-president S Malla Reddy said that AP people have lost nearly 25 lakh hectares crop in kharif session due to land pooling system and it would impact food production in the State.

“The Chief Minister had spent drought funds for other purposes. Chandrababu Naidu was focusing only on Ministers, contractors and investors for developing their business,” he alleged.

AIKS central committee members V Subba Rao, N Ranga Rao and State member Sudhakar and others were present.
