Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the British High Commission delegates to extend their expertise in development of blue and green capital Amaravati. Describing England as an historical country with area of expertise, the CM said Amaravati is also a historical place like London, where Buddhism flourished.

The British High Commission (Hyderabad) organised an interactive session on UK smart city capability and expertise to support Amaravati at CM’s camp office here on Friday, the Chief Minister, emphasised on the importance of India and UK collaboration in capital city development initiatives. He urged the UK government to utilise the opportunities identified in Amaravati and other smart cities of Andhra Pradesh.

The British Deputy High Commissioner (Hyderabad) Andrew gave an overview of UK government’s ongoing projects in Amaravati and reiterated PM Modi’s message on India and UK being an unbeatable combination. A delegation of UK’s Commonwealth Parliamentary Association members Virendra Sharma, Nusrat Ghani and The Lord Rana MBE attended the event.

The interactive session consisted of series of presentations and videos to showcase cutting edge smart city technologies from the UK. APCRDA Additional Commissioner V Rama Manohara Rao explained the British High Commission delegates about the vision of Amaravati. Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad Rao and other delegates were present.
