Kadapa: In another major breakthrough, Kadapa police arrested one Singapore based International red sanders smuggler along with his five associates and seized 125 red sanders logs weighing 3.5 tonnes, one lorry, car and two mobile phones, and cash worth Rs 3.50 lakh foreign currency-100 US Dollars and 50 UAE Dirhams-from them here on Friday.

The offenders were identified as Subramanyam alias Subram (63), of Singapore, Kalivi Venkatesen (34) Tadur of Tiruvalluru district, SM Sundaram alias Karthikeya of Chennai of Tamil Nadu, Goruntla Narasimhulu (46) of Duvvuru village, Bukke Sivanaik of Neelapalem Tanda in Duvvuru mandal, Sangati Palle Kondaiah (24) of Pullareddy village in Duvvuru mandal in Kadapa district.

Addressing the media, District Superintendent of Police (SP) PHD Ramakrishna said that during interrogation of some smugglers like Parthiban, Padmanabhan, K A Davod, Jagir alias Jakeer and Chen Chen Cheng Wu confessed about their links with some international smugglers like Subramanyam of Singapore, Sahul Hameed of Dubai etc.

Following a tip-off, police arrested the accused on Friday. The SP said among them Subramanyam, who originally belongs to Tamil Nadu is presently residing in Singapore. The SP appreciated the cops and declared rewards. ASP B Satya Yesu Babu, Faction Zone DSP B Srinivasulu, inspectors B V Subba Reddy, S Padmanabhan and others were present.
