Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner told to appear before HC
Justice M S Ramachandra Rao of the High Court at Hyderabad on Friday ordered the presence of the Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner to purge himself of contempt in a case.

Shaik Abdul Kalam Azad and four other residents of the city had moved a writ petition and the High court had directed the Revenue and civic authorities not to interfere with the possession and enjoyment of their lands.
It is now complained that the authorities had proceeded with construction of the ghats for the Krishna Pushkaram in utter violation of the directions of the court.
Senior Counsel K G Krishnamurthy pointed out that the action of the Commissioner Veera Pandyan was not only contrary to the directions of the court but was in utter disregard to the majesty of the court. The contemnor will now have to be present in person before the court in four weeks time.
