Atmakuru:Srirudrakoteswaram pilgrimage center, which is tucked 16 km deep into Nallamala forest region, seems to be out of bounds for pilgrims this year as inflows into Velugodu reservoir has resulted in all roads leading to the pilgrimage centre beng submerged.

APSRTC is not in a position to operate its bus services to the pilgrimage centre and the alternative route via Kolimicheruvu, Seetamma padai and other forest areas is not motorable.

People travelling to the pilgrimage centre through this route are availing of either a motorcycle ride or a tractor ride to reach the destination. However, they would have to put up with many hazards en route. Pilgrims might get lost into the woods.

Some of the devotees, who lost their way in the forest region, with great difficulty managed to reach Rudrakoduru on Sunday night with great difficulty.

The Forest department is not allowing plying of vehicles on the alternative routes. The devotees should have to cross three deep streams risking their lives. The devotees have been appealing to the government to deploy home guards and police to guide those who are trying to reach Rudrakoteswaram temple on foot.
