The CITU is planning to distribute pamphlets in Kovvada, Ramachandrapuram, Gudem, Maruvada, Jeerukovvada, Tekkali and Kotapalem by explaining negative effects of NPP on humans and environment, including marine resources. 

​Srikakulam: Ranastalam police prevented CITU padayatra, which was undertaken against proposed nuclear power plant, by arresting its leaders on Sunday.

CITU began padayatra at Kosta junction to create awareness among the people in the seven affected villages in Ranastalam mandal.

The CITU is planning to distribute pamphlets in Kovvada, Ramachandrapuram, Gudem, Maruvada, Jeerukovvada, Tekkali and Kotapalem by explaining negative effects of NPP on humans and environment, including marine resources.

CITU State general secretary Ch Narasinga Rao and district general secretary D Govinda Rao led the padayatra. On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and arrested 20 CITU leaders, including its State and district general secretaries. “We registered cases against the CITU leaders,” said Ranastalam CI Y Ramakrishna. All the arrested agitators were released in the evening on station bail.
