About 300 students studying in Sai Charvitha and Srinivasa Degree colleges functioning in B Kothakota, who waited till the last minute for the hall-ticket, were upset after the college authorities failed to issue them the hall-ticket for the semester exam even after it was commenced today (Wednesday) for the students of the degree colleges affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) in Tirupati.
The agitated students, who have gathered near BT College here, which is the examination centre, took out a procession from there to Sub-Collector’s office where they staged a dharna condemning the negligence of the college management leaving them into lurch.
The students alleged that even after they promptly paid all the fees and regularly attended the college, the management failed to issue them the hall ticket affecting their career.
The newly appointed Sub-Collector K Vetri Selvi whom the students met immediately responded and assured the students that she will seek the SVU authorities to allow the students for the exam.
Meanwhile, SVU executive member R Guruprasad, an educationist from Madanapalle, who was at Hyderabad came to know about the plight of the students, also contacted SVU Vice-Chancellor to intervene and allow the students for the examination.
Guruprasad told the students over phone that the university, as a special case, is allowing them for the examination from Thursday, upon which the students ended their protest. Student leader Uthanna said about 100 students, who have to appear for the exam today missed it due to management negligence and they have to wait to clear this paper till March next.
