Chintalapudi: Women and Child Welfare Minister Peethala Sujatha said that the government is paying Minimum Support Price (MSP ) to the farmers within the 48 hours of purchase of paddy from the farmers.

She inaugurated the Paddy Purchasing Centre of Velugu groups of Chintalapudi, Lingapalem mandals at the Agricultural Market Committee compound on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government is giving Rs 1,510 per 100-kg bag of A-grade paddy.

She said about 160 Velugu Society paddy purchasing centres established beside the 97 Cooperative Societies run purchasing centres. She said that during last kharif and rabi seasons, the purchasing centres purchaACsed 12.43 lakh tonnes of paddy worth Rs 1,782 crore from the farmers She reiterated the commitment of the government to the welfare of the poor and farmers in the State.

She inaugurated the Katamreddypalli Village Association, Kamalapuram, Lingapalem Adarsha Grama Sangham’s paddy purchase centres. Later, she inaugurated the purchasing centres of Fatimapuram and Yarraguntapalli in the Marketing Committee compound. DRDA Project director K Srinvasulu, Mandal Vice-President Gutta Venkateswara Rao and others participated in the programme.
