​Chodavaram (Visakhapatnam): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu while admitting that normal life was crippled with demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, called upon the public to use Rupay Card to be introduced shortly. He said that the card can be used for all shopping purposes.

“There will be no use with the Rs 2,000 note. Moreover, there is a possibility for increasing black money,” he said. However, admitted that with recent tough decision, black money and corruption would come down.

The Chief Minister informed that they were mulling to deposit pension or other benefits in Jan Dhan accounts so that the beneficiaries could make transactions using Rupee Card.

Referring to the Special Category Status (SCS), he said that the Centre conveyed to the State that it could provide special financial packages only, which would be on par with SCS. They cited technical reasons for not according SCS, he informed.

Clarifying that he would fight tooth and nail, if the special packages were reduced even by Rs 100, Naidu charged that some vested interests were misleading the public in the name of SCS.

“I am not selfish, special packages will bail out the State from current financial crisis. Is there anybody other than Naidu, who has worked for the welfare of all sections,” he questioned.

He said that, special package was accepted as there was no difference in terms of accrued benefits. Hitting out at Opposition parties which were still demanding SCS, he chided them for misleading people for their political gains.

MLAs K Sarveswara Rao, Bandaru Satyanarayana Murty, Vangalapudi Anitha, K S N Raju, ZP chairperson Lalam Bhavani, former MLAs G Ramanaidu, M Mani Kumari, Somu and DCCB chairman Sukumara Varma were also present.
