Social media curbs real communication: DCP Pala Raju

​Vijayawada: Deputy Commissioner of Police Pala Raju called upon the students to use social media as a weapon for the benefit of society.

He was addressing the students at a seminar on ‘Social media and its impact on students” at Siddartha Women's College in the city on Thursday.Use of social media is creating a negative impact on youth, observed Pala Raju. He urged the students to avoid excessive use of social media.

He said that Facebook and WhatsApp disconnected the real communication between the family members. "Settings tool in all social media apps would help students for controlling unnecessary messages from unknown sources. All students must use the social media in a positive way,” he added.

North Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police Sravani said that students should not accept unknown person’s friend request on Facebook and also said students should not post the profile pictures on social media because unidentified persons may misuse the social media pictures on banned websites. She also said that social media would help get public opinion and to modify the policies and change the decisions.

State and Union governments also supported social media for communicating with the public within seconds to change the face of India,” she added.

MLC Ramakrishna cautioned the students about excessive use of social media. He termed the social media as a devil which destroys the bright future of students.
