Eluru: West Godavari district Collector K Bhaskar suggested to traders to set up ‘electronic point of sale’ (E-pos) machines at their shops to overcome the currency exchange problems.

He conducted an emergency meeting with the traders from the Chambers of Commerce on Thursday in which the traders complained that their businesses were badly hit by demonetisation as people did not have requisite change with them to purchase essential commodities.

The Collector suggested that the traders install E-pos machines at their establishments. He said that special teams would visit the traders at their shops and explain to them about the machines.

He said that traders interested in the E-pos machines should register for the same and opined that the systems would facilitate cashless transactions and ease the burden on the public.

The collector said that in order to maintain the machine, the trader should open a current account and assured the traders that the bankers would extend all cooperation in this regard.

Joint Collector P Koteswara Rao, District Supply Officer K Sivasankara Reddy, District Lead Bank Manager M Subrahmanyeswara Rao, West Godavari Chamber of commerce President Nerella Rajendra, Secretary Vankayala Ramakrishna Rao and others participated.
