Anantapur: District Collector Kona Sasidhar has called upon all traders to install electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) at all shops and business establishments to encourage cashless transactions for hassle-free trading.

Addressing a meeting of traders and businessmen including multiple associations here on Friday, Sasidhar said that one should look for opportunities in times of crisis for a better future. He asked all sections of people to minimise cash transactions and sought their views on transition to a cashless society. The Collector said that Jan Dhan accounts alone account for 5.73 lakh accounts in the district.

He asked all sections of people to cooperate in transition to cashless society. He asked bankers to distribute RuPay cards and pin numbers in 3 days. He asked all traders to display boards that RuPay cards and debit cards are accepted here.

The Collector said that one need not go after banks for everything and asked people to save their time and energy by taking advantage of technology. State Bank General Manager Murali Krishna said that all those who install SOS can utilize overdraft facility from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000. Representatives of Nursing Homes, Chamber of Commerce, Fertiliser traders, fruit merchants, bus owners, oil and rice mills, pesticides and drug dealers, petrol bunks, vegetable shops and wine shops attended the meeting.
