In a weather bulletin on Friday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that a low pressure is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal by November 20 or 21.
Under the influence of the low pressure, rainfall is expected in parts of south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu which further may intensify into deep depression over a duration. The IMD officials stated that the low-pressure system would form under the influence of a trough at mean sea level over equatorial Indian Ocean and develop over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast.
Officials at Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC), Visakhapatnam informed that the north coastal districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam are less likely to receive rainfall and currently the sea surface temperature levels are favourable.
This will be the third low pressure system to form over the Bay of Bengal during the northeast monsoon season that began in October.
