Dr KVCS Appa Rao, who presided over the programme, suggested the students imbibe and emulate the principles of Mahatma Gandhi for their socio-economic, educational and spiritual development.
​Narsapur: A three-month certificate course in Gandhian philosophy was launched at YN College of Education, here on Friday. On the occasion, the management informed that they would be starting the same course for prisoners of Central Jail in Rajamahendravaram, soon. The college was accorded permission by the government to start the course and as many as 60 have already enrolled.
Dr KVCS Appa Rao, who presided over the programme, suggested the students imbibe and emulate the principles of Mahatma Gandhi for their socio-economic, educational and spiritual development.
Dr Y Gopala Krishna Murthy, treasurer of the college launched the course. In his address, he said that purity of means is an essential condition of realising good ends. “Knowledge and education play an important role in equipping individuals with skills and attitude that is necessary in changing situations,” he added.
Dr Murthy added that work and knowledge should go together. “The educational systems try to develop the individual soul and mind, courage and self-reliance, cultivate the highest intellectual, scientific, moral and ethical accomplishments,” he averred.
Correspondent of the college PS Raghurama Rao said that Gandhian principles were more relevant in fostering peace and prosperity on the earth. “Gandhi’s concept of education is of significance in the contemporary world for the development of human personality, to maintain the discipline, to create the manual work with learning and to develop the culture of the peace.
He was a great educationist and an individualist-par-excellence. He knew that education is the most important means in the society which can be used as an instrument of socio-economic progress, material advancement, political evolution and moral development of an individual,” he noted.In-charge principal of B Ed and D Ed College M K Ramakrishna Rao, lecturers Rudrama Devi, Krupa Leena, Radha and others were also present.
