Stern action against accused involved in ragging: Collector Ch Vijay Mohan

Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijay Mohan warned that he will initiate stern action against the accused responsible for the death of a first year engineering student Usha Rani. No one will be spared from punishment, he stated.

Speaking to the media on Saturday at Rajeev Gandhi Memorial College of Engineering in Panyam, Vijay Mohan said that he has come to know about the suicide of Usha Rani through the media and visited the campus to know about the details behind her suicide.

He interacted with the roommates of Usha Rani at room no.117 of Chowdeswari Hostel block. He enquired about the reason behind Usha’s suicide with her roommates Vaishnavi, Kavitha and Rajani.

Stringent action would be initiated against the accused along with their parents, he added. He said that he would depute a woman officer to probe the death case and she will submit him the facts after a transparent enquiry from police as well as administrative departments within a week. The Collector said that the Police department is also probing the case. He asked the educational institutions to prevent ragging in their campuses.

The Rayalaseema Range DIG BV Ramana Kumar too visited the campus and inspected the scene of offense. The DIG said the students are in a state of shock and are unable to respond.

We are investigating the case, facts will come out and the accused would be punished, he stated. The head of institutions Shanthi Ramudu, college administrative officer and Principal Dr P Jaya Chandra Prasad, warden Revathi, Nandyal RDO C Sudhakar Reddy, DSP Y Hari Nath Reddy, Tahsildar Chandravathy and others were present.
