Industries secretary Solomon Arokia Raj visited Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) SEZ at Atchutapuram near here on Monday. This is his first visit to the Apparel City and he admired the world class textile park.
Visakhapatnam: Industries secretary Solomon Arokia Raj visited Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) SEZ at Atchutapuram near here on Monday. This is his first visit to the Apparel City and he admired the world class textile park.
During his visit, he examined water treatment plant, effluent treatment plant and rain water harvesting pond and lauded the management for equipping the park with state-of-the-art infrastructure. During his visit to the individual units, he examined the advanced technology and machinery being used in the apparel and fabric making units such as Brandix Apparel India Unit I, Ocean India, Seeds Intimate Apparel.
He was surprised to know that Brandix Park provided employment to over 18,000 persons of whom over 15,000 are women. Appreciating the park’s efforts in generating organised employment for women in such large numbers he took stock of the additional facilities provided to them to enable a comfortable and secure workplace.
The secretary was delighted and expressed appreciation at the facilities provided to the employees such as canteen, child care centre, medical centre, transportation and others. Interacting with Brandix director Feroz Omar, he enquired about the sensitive and critical issues facing the management and promised to take them to the notice of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and ensured speedy solutions.
He also assured that the State government is working hard in facilitating Brandix in generating employment to an additional 10, 000 persons. Interacting with the industries secretary were BIAC chief operating officer V Ragupathy, BIAC director Vinu Sudan, BIAC partner- Dora Swamy and APIIC authorities. Also present from the units inside the park were Uditha, Gayan, Raghu Raju, and Perkinian Chelamani.
