Chittoor: Protesting against the attack on a scribe of a vernacular daily by the TDP miscreants, Chittoor Press Club members led by its president Ramesh Babu staged a dharna at the Collectorate on Monday demanding arrest of the accused and to safeguard the interests of the scribes.

In support to the stir of the scribes, CPI district general secretary A Ramanaidu, senior YSRCP leader J Srinivasulu and CPI city chief Nagaraj extended support to scribes and condemned the attacks on the working journalists. Indian Journalist Union member V Krishna cautioned the ruling TDP functionaries not to test the patience of the scribes and appealed to Chittoor SP to take action against the accused.

Journalists Jayaraj Kali, Siva Prasad, Gajapathi, Prakash, Ramachandra, Ramanjaneyulu, Roopachandra Reddy, Tulasi, Chandra, Siva, Pavan, Murali, Vasanth and others were present. Later, the leaders submitted a memorandum to the PA of Joint Collector Girisha seeking necessary action.
