Guntur: Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao on Monday said that the government will develop Suryalanka Beach into a major tourist hotspot to attract more tourists since it is the only beach nearer to the new capital.

He laid the foundation stone for a four-lane road from Suryalanka to Bapatla at a cost of Rs 8 crore which will be executed by Road and Buildings department.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that if the road was laid it would be useful for the smooth flow of traffic.

He further stated that beach is attracting lakhs of the tourists for Karthika Purnima and other auspicious days and stressed the need to provide infrastructure for the convenience of the pilgrims and tourists.

He reminded that the State government is giving importance to tourism and developing Kotappakonda, Kondaveedu Fort, similarly it will develop Suryalankda Beach.Later, he participated in a fish festival and left some fishlings into the sea. The officials of the various government departments were present.
