TDP groups fight over road widening

Interestingly, the city development plans devised by the TDP government hit a roadblock following strong opposition from local MLA V Prabhakar Chowdary and city mayor Swaroopa Madamanchi, both hailing from the ruling party.
Even as the city has witnessed a showdown by the rival groups in the TDP followed by a high-level drama over the expansion of roads in the old city in the last 24 hours, the police foiled Diwakar Reddy’s fast and admitted him to the hospital amidst protests from his supporters.
The state government has accorded administrative sanction for widening of the narrow roads in the 1-Town, a trade hub, from the existing 40ft to 60ft in a bid to find a solution to the traffic bottlenecks.
