An awareness programme for pregnant women
Vijayawada Municipal Corporation 24th division Corporator Chandana Suresh conducted ‘Samoohika Sreemanthala Veduka’ at Krishna
Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation 24th division Corporator Chandana Suresh conducted ‘Samoohika Sreemanthala Veduka’ at Krishna Lanka area in Vijayawada on Thursday in which nearly 108 women participated. Speaking on the occasion, Chandana Suresh said that the programme was being held for the last two years for creating health awareness among pregnant women and also to ensure a bright future for the next generation.
Gifts were presented to the women on the occasion. Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Audit Examiner MV Prasad said that the development of the nation is directly related to the health of its womenfolk.
He said that 50 percent of women in India were anemic due to lack of nutritious food and urged all pregnant women to deliver only at Primary Health Centres and government hospitals.
Industrialist Koganti Satyanarayana said that many pregnant women are not celebrating the Sreemantham programme due to a fund crush caused by the recent demonetisation. He suggested that Corporators of all divisions programs conduct the programme.
