Eluru: West Godavari will become a digital currency district by December ending and the district administration is taking all measures in this regard, said District Collector K Bhakar here on Thursday.

The administration has already imparted training to 1.50 lakh traders in conducting online banking and maintaining the e-PoS machines. The traders have to open current accounts to conduct the online banking for their daily business., he added.

The District Collector K Bhaskar directed all banks to open the Current Accounts to the traders without any initial deposit amounts.

Students from engineering colleges were also employed to train the traders on e-PoS machines, online banking activities and data entry of their daily business. The district administration will pay Rs 10 per trader's data entry to the Engineering Students.

The District Collector K Bhaskar on Thursday said "We will go digital following the demonetisation of big currency since cashless transactions are always better since it will help traders as well as the people to overcome currency crunch."

He said two employees have been deputed to each bank to assist the general public to open accounts for cashless transactions, he added. The Collector while conducting a video conference with Mandal Level officials directed to complete the opening of bank accounts of all NREGS workers. He firmly stated at any cost about 3.88akh pensioners will get pension by December 1. Joint Collector P Koteswara Rao, District Revenue officer Katta Hymavathi and other officials participated in the video conference.
