Eluru: A Head-Master of Municipal Corporation School allegedly collected stitching charges of Rs 200 from each student for supplying free uniform. It came to light when some parents complained to District Collector K Bhaskar on Thursday.

The Collector conducted mobile conference with parents as part of Badi Ganta programme to seek opinions of parents about the facilities in the government schools in the district.

Some parents complained over phone that the HM of Balagangadhar Tilak Municipal Corporation High School in Eastern Street has collected money towards stitching charges from the student for the free uniform distribution.

They told collector that each student coughed up Rs 200 for the same. They also said that the HM pressurized the students to pay Rs 10 to purchase phenol, hand wash, acid bottles for the school.

Reacting on this complaint, the Collector directed District Educational Officer D Madhusudana Rao to suspend the Headmaster of the school immediately and conduct an inquiry and also directed the DEO to conduct inquiry in other schools in the district to know about underhand collections and submit a comprehensive report.

Another parent from Tadepalligudem told Collector that the mid-day meal being implemented in the schools was not hygiene and alleged that in Tadepalligudem Z P School, the mid-day meal organizers supplied food with worms. . District Educational Officer D MadhusudanaRao, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) project Director M Brahmananda Reddy and others also participated.
