Tirupati: The annual Karthika Brahmotsavams of Goddess Padmavathi of Tiruchanur commenced on a grand note with the ceremonious Dhwajarohanam on Saturday Minister for Environment and Forests Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy has offered new set of silk clothes to Goddess on behalf of the government.

The Minister was given warm reception on his arrival at the entrance of the temple with Purna Kumbham by temple officials amidst chanting of Vedic hymns. Earlier, the processional deity decked in silk clothes and dazzling jewels was seated on a special Asanam in the Mukha Mandapam. The priests invited the deities to this auspicious nine-day fete reciting the respective mantras and appeasing them with their favourite ragas to invoke the blessings of the respective deities.

Later, the holy cloth bearing the image of Gajam was lifted on to the temple pillar during the scheduled time amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, Tirupati JEO Pola Bhaskar, Special Grade Deputy EO Munirathnam Reddy, MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, ACVSO Sivakumar Reddy, AEO Radhakrishna, temple staff and others were present.
