Irked at transfer, Unani doctor refuses to hand over charge

Kurnool: A Unani lady doctor, Dr Yugha Lakshmi Deve, working with Ayush department of the government hospital here, is allegedly behaving in a high-handed manner, perhaps irked at her transfer to Adoni, and giving headache to the doctor posted in her place and causing problems to patients visiting the hospital.

She is accused of putting the almirah where drugs are kept and doctor’s consultation room put them under lock and key besides sealing them.

The doctor who has been posted in her place, Dr PSK Basha, has been sitting in the hospital hall and discharging his duty instead of the consultancy room, as she refused to hand over charge to the new incumbent.

The hospital staff are turning away patients asking them to come to the hospital another day as she is entering into verbal duels with patients instead of examining them. The district medical and health officer as well as the hospital superintendent wash their hands off expressing their inability to intervene in the matter stating that the dispute comes under the regional joint director’s jurisdiction.

The lady doctor is daily attending the office and signing in the attendance register. The hospital staff is heard passing remarks against her questioning the motive behind sealing the office and medicines to the detriment of one and all.

She not only refused to hand over charge to him but also breathed fire on the new incumbent questioning him, “How dare you come to the hospital without my permission?” The patients have been appealing to the higher authorities to intervene in the matter and get the Unani department of the government hospital reopened.
