Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijay Mohan directed the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) Superintending Engineer and Andhra Pradesh State Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APSPDCL) Superintending Engineer Bhargava Ramudu to provide power connection to the motors pumps of Muchumarri Lift Irrigation Scheme for conducting trial run on Sunday evening. He inspected the lift irrigation scheme works on Saturday.

Vijay Mohan inspected the pumps and electric motors that have been laid from Muchumarri pump house to Kurnool Cuddapah (KC) canal. After inspection, the Collector instructed officials concerned to change the electric wires and cables of the motors besides arranging an additional power line. He ordered the officials to make all arrangements for successful conduct of the trial run by Sunday evening. “We have to fulfill the 8 years dream of the farmers by extending waters through this trial run,” said Vijay Mohan.

He said water was supposed to be released through two pumps. Due to additional requirement of power, the Collector said water would be released through one pump for the time being. He assured people of uninterrupted water supply from Wednesday if the trial run is successful.

Farmers need not worry about the water supply, he said adding that he will engage the engineering officials to work day and night and get the work done within 15 days for releasing of water through two pumps. Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhara Reddy said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is determined to save every acre of crop and he is reviewing the progress every day. He said the government is striving to extend water to the crops of last ayacut lands under KC Canal.
