Visakhapatnam: Dr BR Ambedkar Study Centre, Andhra University and AU Ambedkar College of Law jointly organized Constitution Day here on Saturday. Vice Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao paid rich tributes to the Architect of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar on the occasion and said that Ambedkar was a world renowned personality in ensuring justice, liberty and equality to all sections of people.

Director of B R Ambedkar Study Centre Prof Y Satyanarayana said that Ambedkar was a great economist and had done research on ‘Rupee and its value’ and his valuable thoughts had paved the way for setting up of Reserve Bank of India. AU Law College Principal Prof D Surya Prakasa Rao said that Ambedkar had always sought a caste-less society and the Indian Constitution which he helped frame was resolving all problems being faced by the nation.

Registrar Prof V Uma Maheswara Rao said that India has a unique and ideal Constitution which is a role model to all countries in the world. Earlier, the authorities garlanded the portrait of B R Ambedkar and paid tributes to him. Varsity teachers, deans, employees, researchers and students attended the meeting in large numbers.

The Constitution Day was also organised at the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway here on Saturday. Paying rich tributes to Ambedkar, Divisional Railway Manager Chandralekha Mukherjee took the oath along with employees of upholding the ideals and values of the Constitution. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager M Yelvender Yadav, officials and employees attended.
