Loyola clinches Krishna University Boxing championship

Krishna University Inter Collegiate (KRUIC) Boxing Championship evoked a good response from young boxers. The event was organised by Nalanda Degree College at Indira Gadhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium on Monday. About 25 boxers enthusiastically participated in it.

Andhra Loyola College boxers excelled in the event and emerged as winners. As many as five national boxers Siva Sagaraiah, Ch Meghanadhudu, Bhanu Ashok, Mallikarjuna, Anand Kumar participated in the Inter collegiate championship. All the students and spectators joyfully watched the bouts.

Earlier District Sports Development Officer (DSDO) Md Sirajuddin inaugurated the championship. Speaking on the occasion, he said that sportsmen spirit is the most important aspect for every player. “The State government has been giving utmost priority to sports and games. The government intends to implement a New Sports Policy shortly, which is designed for the benefit of players,” he said.

Later, Nalanda College principal Anuradha introduced the participants to DSDO. Krishna district Boxing Association (KDBA) secretary Raghavulu, Physical directors Chinna Babu, Raghu, Durga Prasad, Nagendra Kumar and others participated in the event.

“After the tournament the committee selected Krishna University Boxing team for the ‘All India Inter University Boxing Championship’,” said Nalanda College PD Chinna Babu. “The tournament will be at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar in January,” he added.
