Eluru: The police nabbed the accused in the killing of carpenter in the city within 24 hours.

DSP G Venkateswara Rao told reporters here on Monday that Makineedi Srinivasa Rao (28) of Rangarao Colony plotted to murder Potluri Lakshmana Rao (30) a carpenter, as he was an obstacle to continue the former’s extramarital affair with the latter's wife.

Srinivasa Rao was Lakshmana Rao’s friend and had intimacy with the family members too. This intimacy with Lakshman Rao's wife turned into an extra marital affair. Lakshmana Rao, who grew suspicious warned Srinivasa Rao to not to visit his house anymore.

Enraged with the turn of events, Srinivas Rao planned to get Lakshmana Rao killed so that he can continue his affair with the latter’s wife. He engaged the services of Geddam Brahmananda Rao (28) of Kathepu Veedhi, Bandaru Mohan (22) of Chenchu Colony, Gopisetti Manojkumar alias Picci Pilli (22) of Gajjalavari Cheruvu to kill the carpenter.

The trio on Sunday followed Lakshmana Rao and hacked him to death at a secluded place. However, the victim and the accused were identified in CCTV cameras installed at a godown near the place, where Lakshmana Rao was murdered.

The police took Gopisetti Manoj Kumar into their custody and after interrogation, he revealed other accused names. On this information, the police team has arrested the remaining three persons including the A1, Srinivasa Rao.
