Vijayawada: APCC spokesman Kolanukonda Sivaji condemned the act of removal of Shiva Lingam and other idols from Jaga Brahmaiah Lingeswara temple at Chikkavaram of Gannnavaram mandal in Krishna district. He also asked the CM to reinstall the Shiva Lingam in the same place.

Stating that there was a conspiracy behind the idols’ removal, he alleged that the temple organisers resorted to the act with the help of ruling party, which is eyeing on a treasure trove.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the Congress leader wondered why they shifted the idols which were installed in the temple in the presence of seer Jayendra Saraswati a decade ago.

The local people had been fearing that the act would prove a bad omen for the village. “The construction of roads in the government lands and reserve forest area is also giving room for suspicion. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who performed puja in the temple recently had promised to develop the temple,” he said.

Sivaji sought to know from the CM, whether development means removing the already installed idols and demanded the State government to order a probe into the incident and punish the guilty. He also asked the CM to reinstall the Shiva Lingam in the same place.
