They criticised Prime Minister for disruption of the life of common man with his decision to ban high-value currencies. The protesters also blamed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the ‘anti-farmer’ policies of the government and accused him of pledging the state to overseas companies.
On account of the bandh, normal life in Srisailam, Mahanandi, Velugodu and Atmakuru mandals was affected. The turnout of devotees at Srisailam and Mahanandi temples was thin because of the bandh.
The police arrested the protesters resulting in a sit-in dharna on KG Road by YSRCP activists.
YSRCP protestors were led by Atmakuru in-charge Budda Sesha Reddy and Timmayya Yadav, while the CPI cadre was led by Karrapoluru Srinivasulu.
The Congress had no representation in the dharna as local leader Shabana had quit the party
