The petitioner Shetty Gangadhar Swami pointed out that the MP is not a tribal candidate and thus is not entitled to hold the said post and that she wrongly claimed to be a tribal on the basis of a caste certificate given by the district Collector. 

A two-judge bench of the High court at Hyderabad on Tuesday took on file a PIL challenging the social status of Araku MP K Geeta.

The petitioner Shetty Gangadhar Swami pointed out that the MP is not a tribal candidate and thus is not entitled to hold the said post and that she wrongly claimed to be a tribal on the basis of a caste certificate given by the district Collector.

He contended that the brother of the MP was earlier declared as not belonging to the ST community just three months ago.

Senior counsel Satya Prasad appearing for the petitioner pointed out that the Collector by his order made in July declared her to be a tribal person contrary to law .
