National AIDS day awareness programme and a rally were jointly organised by Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala NSS and Red Ribbon here on Thursday. Speaking to the students Dr T Vijaya Laxmi, the College Principal said that Aids is not a contagious disease and patients suffering from Aids should be treated with love and they should not be Isolated. They should be courageous and encouraged to lead a happy life.

Dr S Madan Mohan, Chief edical Officer, Rotary Red Cross Blood Bank, said that the first Aids case was detected on July 21, 1982. Today there are as many as 78 million cases, including 1.8 million children. Everyone should have awareness on Aids and lead a committed life to avoid and restrict the disease, he said. K Sarala, NCC Programme Officer, T Nagaraju, Red Ribbon Convener, K Kavitha committee member and students participated.
