Nellore: The Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) organised a seminar on Thursday in which majority speakers opined that there should be technology-linked examination pattern for conducting immaculately. They also suggested deemed colleges should come up for relieving burden on varsities. The varsity organised a seminar on ‘Examination Reforms: Measures and Strategies’ with Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education and Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan on Thursday.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) Prof P Murali, who attended as the chief guest, said academic staff and examination pattern are important for any university and the higher-learning institutions have to implement new technological advancements in conducting examinations.

He said colleges desirous to achieve autonomous status should attain certification from National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) that monitors standards sternly. B Vital Rao, former controller of examinations of Parvataneni Brahmaiah Siddhartha College said University Grants Commission had suggested reforms in 70s on conducting examinations. As a result, now educational institutions have been implementing Choice Based Credit System. He said even in USA, under-graduate courses are having international recognition but the candidate has to obtain Grade-A or any other top rank besides the institution having NAAC-A grade.

Former SUV dean Dr Kiran Kranth Chowdary has suggested introduction of online admission system and modernising present examination structure with latest technology. He said valuation should be in a systematic way where a teacher can evaluate 25 to 40 answer papers per day. Vice Principal Dr Ande Prasad, coordinator of the workshop Dr Jawahar Babu, varsity controller Dr Thyagaraju, deputy registrar Dr Murali Mohan and others were present.
