The PCC vice-president Sake Sailajanath, who was the chief guest, said that the Special Category Status is the right of Andhra people and asked the youth to exert on the governments for it.

Ongole: The youth wing of Congress party and National Students Union of India (NSUI) organised a public ballot on the need of Special Category Status to the State at Sri Nagarjuna Degree and PG College here on Thursday.

The PCC vice-president Sake Sailajanath, who was the chief guest, said that the Special Category Status is the right of Andhra people and asked the youth to exert on the governments for it.

He said, “The politicians, who boast about doing service to public are lacking responsibility. The political parties in the State running away from the responsibility of the bifurcation and made the Congress scapegoat. But, it is Congress, which said yes to the bifurcation, only after all the parties gave their consent.

Now the BJP and TDP are going away from the responsibility of implementation of the Special Category Status for the State announced by the then Prime Minister Mammohan Singh. They are in favour of special package, which helps the politicians to accumulate more money and discouraging the demand of Special Category Status.

The Congress party is fighting for the status since bifurcation and took up various modes of agitation and now planning to organise public ballot for youth, he said. With the Special Category Status, the industries would get more benefits than with the package and a lot of industrialists come forward to set up their plants in the State, he pointed out.

“This helps in creation of employment to the youth in the State. Special Category Status is the right of every Andhra person and we should fight for it. At the same time, we are demanding the TDP government implement the poll promises made to the youth,” he reminded.

The government should provide the jobs or unemployment allowance to the youth. We want to partner with the more than one crore students in the State and see the government implement its promise,” he said.
