Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reacted strongly against the Opposition parties and alleged the criticism towards him was only to gain political mileage.

Maintaining that he would welcome constructive criticism from anyone, Chandrababu claimed that he is clever to accept the Special Package offered by the Union Government instead of fighting it out.

He stated that Nabard sanctioned Rs 2,915 crore for Polavaram Project.

Responding to the criticism over maintaining good relations with the Centre, Chandrababu informed that for the Polavaram Project, land acquisition costs Rs 27,000 crore while Rs 40,000 acres is required for the rehabilitation of migrants and the project needs more Rs 37,000 crores for the completion.

Citing these reasons, the Chief Minister questioned whether they should end ties with the Centre in such a situation. He further said that the Centre is keen to compensate as much as possible after backtracking on the special category status.

On the new announcement made on gold restrictions, Chandrababu asked the public not to panic as he would hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the issue.
