Collector suspends PHC medical staff

Nellore: District Collector R Mutyala Raju paid a surprise visit to Jonnawada and Buchireddypalem Primary Health Centres (PHCs) on Friday and expressed anger over medical officer and staff for their alleged negligence in providing services to the patients. Irritated Collector suspended medical officer of Jonnawada PHC Dr Shaik Shabana, multipurpose health worker R Someswar Rao and community health worker Kameswari for dereliction of duties.

Later, the Collector visited Buchireddypalem PHC and observed conditions there and asked the patients about services being offered by the staff. Speaking to the media at Buchireddypalem, the Collector said medical staff working at Jonnawada PHC has been suspended for their negligence. He said they did not inform even the DM&HO explaining the reasons for their absence.

He also warned of taking stern action against the medical staff, who neglects their duties. He said district administration had organised several review meetings and asked the medical staff to be punctual. Though the Health Minister Dr Kamineni Sreenivas had warned them still there has been no change in their attitude, the Collector said. He also asked the Buchireddypalem staff to maintain records promptly in the health centre.
