Srikakulam: Regular plantation of different saplings is required to control pollution in all forms, opined District Collector P Laxminarasimham. Speaking at a programme arranged by the Red Cross, Srikakulam unit and Pollution Control Board on the occasion of National Pollution Control Day here on Friday, the collector said people should make planting saplings a habit to protect environment, ecological balance and biodiversity.

Plants are playing a key role in control of pollution, he pointed out. “At present we are destroying our own future by establishing polluted industries and following anti-environmental methods,” he opined.

He suggested to the children of various schools to inculcate habit of environment protection in all forms by not using plastic and other hazardous material.
