Pollution Control Day observed at Pharma City

BSS Prasad, Member Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board and Prof. VSRK Prasad, Chairman, SEAC, Andhra Pradesh, were the chief guests. D Chandrasekhara Varma, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, J Mohan Rao, District Fire Officer, NV Bhaskara Rao, Joint Chief Environmental Engineer, AP Pollution Control Board and others attended the programme.

Chandrasekhara Varma said safety arrangements were different from one facility to another facility and opined that the safety levels in Visakhapatnam zone are better than Hyderabad industrial area. He suggested that industrialists should come forward with their commitment towards implementation of safety measures and to reduce the contractual employment in their industries to avoid accidents. He stated the contractual employment should not be more than 30 per cent in industries.

Lal Krishna, CEO, Ramky Group, explained that 72 industries were operating at Pharma City with over 20,000 employees and Rs 50,000 crore investment was in stake in the Pharma City. He said that UNEDO recognised Ramky Pharma City, Parawada, as an eco-sensitive park in Andhra Pradesh.
