Vijayawada: The YSRCP leaders performed puja at Brahmalingeswara Swamy temple at Chikkavaram in Gannavaram mandal in Krishna district on Friday. The leaders squatted on Gannavaram-Nuzvid road protesting against the removal of idols from the temple. YSRCP senior leaders K Parthasarathy, Gannavaram constituency in-charge Dutta amachandra Rao and others took part in the protest.

Speaking on the occasion, Parthasarathy said that even God was not safe in Telugu Desam rule. The administration had destroyed 20 temples in Vijayawada in the name of development.

He said idols of Brahmalingeswara Swamy was installed in 1996 as per Agamana Sastra. He said it was inhuman act to shift Shiva Lingam on to the hill overnight. The Siva Lingam has 800 years of history. He demanded that the State government reinstate the temple.
